Year 1

Welcome to Year One

Stage Activities:

K- 2 Assembly: Tuesday at 2:10pm in Weeks 4, 6, 8 and 10 in the hall.
Banking is on Tuesday
Scripture is on Wednesday
Sport is on Friday

Homework:

Stage One students will receive homework in accordance with our school homework policy. Please provide your child with an A4 book for this purpose. Homework will be handed out Monday and collected on Friday. Home Reading will also be encouraged to improve reading and comprehension skills. A plastic A4 envelope is required before Home Readers are sent home

Food:

It is important that students are provided with enough healthy food each day to help them concentrate and learn.
Crunch and Sip- Every class will include a short Crunch and Sip time during each morning session. Students are encouraged to pack a piece of fresh fruit or vegetables to eat during this time. Fresh fruit, vegetables and water only are allowed during this time
Nut Awareness- We have several children who are anaphylactic, and any contact with nuts or products including nuts could be potentially life threatening. Parents are reminded to ensure student's lunches are free from nuts, ( eg. peanut butter and nutella).

Morning Lining Up:

When children arrive at school after 8:35, they need to put their bags down outside of their classroom and walk straight to the playground where a teacher will be on duty. When the 8:55 bell goes children will line up in their class lines under the old COLA. If your child arrives at school before 8:15 they walk straight to the hall with their bag and wait until the 8:35 bell rings.

Afternoon Pick Up:

The last minutes of the day are busy for teachers and students as we conclude the day, hand out notes and give reminders for the coming days. For this reason, it is important to keep the areas outside of the classrooms clear and quiet to allow students to concentrate on the directions from their teachers. All children will be walked down to the old COLA for dismissal. Please wait for your children in the COLA. Thank you for your support in this matter.

Communication:

Communicating with your class teacher is an important aspect of your child's education. To assist in this process the Stage One teachers will be sending you an invitation to join their Class Dojo. Class Dojo provides instant communication with your child's teacher.
